Installing a solid tire for the Ninebot G30 Max – FRONT WHEEL

Introduction: Installing a solid tire on the front wheel of a Ninebot G30 Max

Hello everyone, in this video we will see how to install a puncture-proof tire on the front wheel of a Ninebot G30 Max. So, you will see, it is a tutorial where we still use a lot of tools to succeed in removing the original tire and installing the solid tire. Of course, this is the most effective method we have found and the one we use at MoovMoov.

You will need the following equipment:

🛒 Ninebot G30 solid puncture-proof tire

🛒 Hercules tire levers

Remove the front fork covers

So let’s get started, we’ll begin by removing the yellow stickers.
For that, you can slide the tip of a cutter under the sticker to lift a part of it and be able to remove it.

And if you have a hairdryer, feel free to heat the sticker. The adhesive will grip less, making it easier to remove.

Next, we remove the two small rubber covers to access the mudguard screws.
For that, you can use any pointed object like the tip of a knife or cutter.

And we remove the 3 screws with a 3mm Allen wrench.

And we do the exact same thing on the other side of the scooter.

Now, we can pull on the two plastic covers of the front fork to unclip them and remove them.

Disassemble the brake

Next, in order to remove the front wheel, we need to release the brake.
So we remove the blind nut at the end of the brake rod using an 8mm wrench.
Disassemble the brake
Next, I unlock the two upper nuts using a 14mm wrench and an 8mm wrench.

Disassemble the brake
Then, I hold the brake cable with pliers to prevent it from rotating and remove the lock nut with an 8mm wrench.

Disassemble the brake
And now we can lift the brake lever and remove the adjustment nut by hand.

Disassemble the brake
Next, we unscrew the upper nut with an 11mm wrench.

Disassemble the brake
We lift the brake cable upward, and now we can retrieve the spring, nut, and small pin.

Remove the Front Wheel

Finally, we can release the front wheel by unscrewing the two nuts using a 15mm wrench or socket.
Remove the Front Wheel
We retrieve the small washer placed on the left side, between the wheel and the fork.

Remove the Front Wheel
And we remove the detachable part of the drum brake.

Now we remove the valve cap and check that there is no more air in the tire.
And you can also simply remove the valve core, that works too.

Remove the tire from the rim

Now we’re going to move on to the key step of this repair, which is removing the tire from the rim.
For this, I’m going to use a corner of a table and two good clamps. Personally, I find it quite difficult without using clamps. But with this technique, it’s super easy, it requires no force or effort.

To avoid scratching the front wheel, I’m going to place a piece of fabric on the corner of my table.
Then I place the front wheel of the G30 Max on the corner.
And I’m going to clamp the edges of the tire with my two clamps until the tire bead comes out of its seat.

So we managed to release the first side.

And to remove the second side, simply flip the wheel and do the same thing.

Remove the old tire

Now that the tire is off, we can remove it from the rim.
To do this without forcing, I’m going to press on the sides of the tire and push a portion of it into the rim.
Remove the old tire
Then, I’m going to hold the portion of the tire that is inside the rim by clamping it with a zip tie.

Remove the old tire
I lubricate the tire to prevent it from sticking. And it’s simply soap with a little water.

Remove the old tire
And I push the tire further into the rim. Here we can see that by pushing a part of the tire inside the wheel, the opposite part is already almost out of the rim.

Remove the old tire
Now I take our famous Hercules tire levers, apply some soap on the edges, and go around the tire to remove the first side.

When half of the tire is outside the wheel, I remove the zip tie to be able to remove the rest.

And to remove the second part of the tire, it can be done by hand easily.

Preparing the installation of the solid tire on G30 Max

Now let’s move on to installing our solid, puncture-proof tire on the Ninebot G30 Max.
This step is not easy and requires some strength, but we hope our technique will help you succeed.
Preparing the installation of the solid tire on G30 Max
To make the tire rubber softer and more pliable during installation, we’re going to heat it by leaving it in boiling water for 15 minutes.

After 15 minutes, we can remove it from the hot water and remove the excess water.

Next, I recommend the following setup:

  • Sit comfortably to maintain stability and avoid straining your back.
  • Have the solid tire, rim, tire levers, liquid soap, and some paper towels beside you.
  • Protect your floor with a cardboard to avoid scratches.

Make sure to check the rotation direction of the rim and tire.
There is a small arrow on the side of the tire indicating the rotation direction.

To ensure smoothness, I apply some soapy water on the tire edges, around the rim, and on the flat edges of my tire levers.

Then, I place the rim on top of the tire.

Now, I install one side of the rim into the tire and place my feet on top to hold everything in place. I dry my hands well to avoid slipping.

Then, I use my tire levers to spread the tire and gradually pass it over the rim.
I use my feet and the weight of my body to keep the wheel in place.

Installing a solid tire alone is not easy, so don’t hesitate to ask for assistance from someone who can insert the third tire lever while you hold the other two.

Center the solid tire on the wheel

Here, my tire is on the wheel, but it’s not centered.

So, I simply lift the parts of the tire that are not well seated in the rim using my tire levers.

Now we can adjust the brake.
To do this, simply rotate the wheel of your G30 Max and tighten the adjustment nut until you hear the brake pads rubbing against the drum. When you hear the rubbing sound, slightly loosen the nut, and you’re good to go.

Then, screw the lock nut all the way up. Reattach the small blind nut at the end of the brake cable.

All that’s left is to clip the covers back in place.

Secure them to the scooter by tightening the six screws.
