How to Remove a Presta Valve Core

Step 1: Check if your valve core is removable
Look closely at the top of your Presta valve:
- If you see two small flat edges, then yes, the core can be unscrewed.
- If there are no flat sides, the core is fixed and not removable.

Step 2: Deflate your tire completely
Unscrew the small valve pin and press down on the tip to let all the air out.

Step 3: Unscrew the valve core
- Place the wide end of your Presta valve core remover over the valve.
- Turn it counterclockwise.
- Once it’s loose, gently pull it out.


🔄 To re-install the valve core:
Insert the core back into the valve and screw it in securely using the core remover. Avoid overtightening.
How to Remove a Presta Valve Core Without Tools
It’s possible with a bit of creativity. The goal is to grip the two flat sides of the core without damaging the valve threads.
Check your toolbox or around the house. You can try using:
- A small needle-nose pliers
- A tiny open-end wrench
- Two ultra-thin flathead screwdrivers
