Unscrewing the overly tight FRONT wheel of a Xiaomi scooter
On the verge of a nervous breakdown? Here are some tips to successfully unscrew the front wheel of a Xiaomi and complete your repair serenely. 👇
Our tips on how to disassemble the front wheel of a Xiaomi M365 electric scooter
Here are the various tools we use in the tips below:
- 18mm open-end wrench
- 2.5mm Allen key
- Rigid tube
- WD40
TIP 1: remove the cover
Using a 2.5mm Allen key, unscrew the 4 small screws holding the plastic cover of the front fork so you can pass your 18mm open-end wrench between the cover and the fork. This way, your tool will cover the entire surface of the nut and you'll have a better grip.
TIP 2: the magic of WD40
Use WD40 to loosen the nut tightened with thread locker. Apply a good initial dose and let it sit for a few minutes. Then apply a few more drops and wait another two minutes before unscrewing the front wheel of your Xiaomi.
TIP 3: use your body weight
Optimize your strength. To do this, place your open-end wrench at the front of your wheel so you can press on it with your entire body weight. It will be much easier than trying to unscrew the nut by pulling your open-end wrench upwards.
TIP 4: leverage effect
Use leverage, this technique is foolproof! Insert your wrench on the "stuck" nut of the front wheel. Then fit a long, rigid tube around your wrench and press the whole thing downwards. You won't believe how much it multiplies your force.
THINK ABOUT IT
Don't tinker with crappy disposable tools, invest in good equipment that will last a lifetime. It will save you many problems in all your repairs and you'll be glad to have them (and use them).
