Everything you need to know about our 29-inch inner tubes

29-inch inner tubes are designed for wheels built around the ISO/ETRTO 622 mm bead seat diameter. Once exclusive to mountain bikes, this wheel size is now widely used across many bike categories: cross-country, trail and enduro MTBs, electric mountain bikes, trekking and touring bikes, wide-tire gravel bikes, and even some utility or cargo bikes compatible with 622 rims. Our selection of 29-inch tubes covers an extremely broad range of tire widths, from narrow to very high-volume setups, with ETRTO compatibility from 35-622 up to 100-622.

Quick guide: choose based on your riding style (and tire width)

To avoid mistakes, always start by checking the tire size printed on the sidewall (in inches or ETRTO). Then match it to your riding style:

  • City riding, trekking, smooth touring, fast gravel (narrow to mid-width tires)
    Typically 29x1.35 to 29x1.75, or about 35-622 to 47-622.
The goal here is a properly sized tube that holds pressure well and reduces the risk of pinch flats during installation.
  • XC mountain biking / sporty trail riding (versatile widths)
Very common in 29x1.90 to 29x2.25, roughly 48-622 to 58-622.
This is the sweet spot for MTB setups, balancing efficiency, comfort, and traction.
  • Trail, enduro, eMTB, and aggressive riding (wide tires)
Often seen with tires from 29x2.30 to 29x2.60 (approximately 55-622 to 68-622).
A correctly sized tube helps absorb impacts and manage pressure changes—especially important with the extra weight and torque of e-bikes.
  • 29+ / 29er fat setups (extra-wide tires)
For maximum comfort, sand, snow, or soft-terrain bikepacking, some setups go as wide as 29x2.80, 29x3.00, 29x3.25, or even 29x4.00 (ETRTO up to 100-622).
At this volume, the tube must be designed for large air capacity to avoid excessive stretching.

Technical compatibility: inches & ETRTO (XX-622)

Inch sizes covered in this collection include:
29x1.35 ; 29x1.40 ; 29x1.50 ; 29x1.60 ; 29x1.70 ; 29x1.75 ; 29x1.90 ; 29x1.95 ; 29x2.00 ; 29x2.10 ; 29x2.125 ; 29x2.15 ; 29x2.20 ; 29x2.25 ; 29x2.30 ; 29x2.35 ; 29x2.40 ; 29x2.50 ; 29x2.60 ; 29x2.80 ; 29x3.00 ; 29x3.25 ; 29x4.00

Understanding ETRTO sizing:
XX-622 = tire width in millimeters (XX) + 622 mm rim diameter.

This page includes the following widths:
35-622 ; 38-622 ; 40-622 ; 44-622 ; 45-622 ; 47-622 ; 48-622 ; 50-622 ; 52-622 ; 53-622 ; 54-622 ; 55-622 ; 56-622 ; 57-622 ; 58-622 ; 60-622 ; 61-622 ; 62-622 ; 63-622 ; 64-622 ; 65-622 ; 66-622 ; 68-622 ; 70-622 ; 71-622 ; 75-622 ; 76-622 ; 82-622 ; 100-622

Practical tip: inner tubes are elastic. If your tire size falls within the range printed on the tube (e.g. 29x1.90–2.35), it will fit—as long as you stay within that range.

Valve types: the detail that prevents most ordering mistakes

Before placing your order, make sure your rim is compatible with the valve type:

  • Presta valve – very common on performance MTBs and gravel bikes
  • Schrader valve – often found on recreational MTBs, urban e-bikes, and some utility or cargo bikes

Installation & maintenance tips (to reduce flats)

  • Inspect the inside of the tire for debris (thorns, glass, staples) before reinstalling.
  • Lightly dust the tube with talc powder (optional) to reduce friction.
  • Slightly inflate the tube before inserting it to avoid pinching.
  • Make sure the tube is not trapped under the tire bead before final inflation.
  • Follow the recommended tire pressure printed on the sidewall:
too low = pinch flats, too high = harsh ride and higher impact risk.
