• 16-Inch Inner Tubes

Find our complete selection of 16-inch inner tubes designed to get your tires back on the road with total confidence. This wheel size can be confusing: depending on the bike or equipment, the rim’s internal diameter may vary (ETRTO 305, 349, and more rarely 330 or 340). Whether you’re outfitting a kids’ bike, folding bike, bike trailer, stroller, or a model with extra-wide tires, you’ll find the correct match here. Simply check the size printed on your tire sidewall (in inches or ETRTO) and choose the right inner tube—no guesswork, no compatibility issues.

Why choose our 16-inch inner tubes?

The 16-inch wheel size is one of the most technical on the market. Two tires labeled “16-inch” can actually correspond to different rim diameters, making compatibility a common source of mistakes. That’s exactly why this category brings together all of our 16-inch inner tubes, covering the most common standards as well as more specific formats—including wide and mini-fat tires up to 16x4.00.

What are these 16-inch inner tubes used for?

Depending on tire width and—most importantly—the ETRTO diameter, our 16-inch inner tubes are suitable for:

  • Kids’ bikes (learning bikes, everyday riding, school bikes)
  • BMX bikes and small recreational bikes
  • Folding bikes (including models using ETRTO 349, often referred to as “large-format 16-inch”)
  • Bike trailers (for kids or cargo transport)
  • Strollers and jogging strollers with pneumatic tires
  • Specialty small bikes and extra-wide tire setups (mini-fat applications)

How to choose the right 16-inch inner tube (key point: ETRTO)

To avoid ordering the wrong tube, always rely first on the ETRTO marking printed on the tire sidewall (format XX-XXX).

  • First number = tire width (in millimeters)
  • Second number = internal diameter (rim diameter, in millimeters)

1) “Classic” 16-inch standard: ETRTO 305

This is the most common format, used on most kids’ bikes, many trailers, and a large share of wide tires. Typical inch sizes include: 16x1.75, 16x2.125, all the way up to 16x3.00 and 16x4.00.

2) Folding bike standard: ETRTO 349

This format is mainly found on performance-oriented folding bikes. Important note: a 305 inner tube will not fit a 349 tire—and vice versa. Common inch sizes include: 16x1 1/8, 16x1 1/4, 16x1 3/8, and similar.

3) Less common standards: ETRTO 330 and 340

These rarer sizes appear on specific or older setups. When available, this category also includes compatible inner tubes for these dimensions.

Valve choice: Presta or Schrader?

Before ordering, check your rim drilling and your current tube’s valve type:

  • Schrader valve (Auto valve): wider, commonly used on kids’ bikes and recreational setups
  • Presta valve: narrower, typically found on folding bikes and more performance-focused builds

Practical tips to prevent flats and ensure proper installation

  • Inspect the inside of the tire for debris (thorns, glass, staples) before installing a new tube
  • Check the rim tape: damaged or misaligned rim tape is a frequent cause of “mystery” flats
  • Slightly inflate the tube before installation to prevent pinch flats
  • Always respect the tire’s recommended pressure range
