- Allen wrench: 2.5mm, 4mm, 5mm
- Liquid soap
- Pliers + zip ties
Step by step tutorial to change the rear tyre of an ETown Leader electric scooter

Gently remove the small red sticker by sliding a thin blade between the sticker and the plastic cover.
This sticker is fragile and of poor quality, so we recommend lightly heating it with a hairdryer or a heat gun to successfully remove it without tearing it.
Remove the plastic cover by unscrewing the two screws using a 2.5mm Allen wrench.
Remove the wheel axle screw using a 4mm Allen wrench.
Repeat the same operation on the other side.
Slightly loosen the two screws that hold the brake caliper using a 5mm Allen wrench. This will allow us to have some play and remove the wheel.
Grab the wheel and pull it backward to remove it from the fork.
Remove your brake disc by unscrewing the 6 small screws using a 4mm Allen wrench. Removing your brake disc takes 2 minutes and will give you more room to work and no risk of bending your disc while changing the wheel of your ETown Leader.
Remove the cap and nut from the inner tube valve.
Push the valve of the inner tube inside the rim using an Allen wrench.
Apply some liquid soap around the tire to help it slide and press on the edges to detach it from the rim.
Place two sturdy scooter tire levers to the right and left of the rim hole and lever to remove a section of the tire. Then go around the tire to remove the first side.
Push the valve of the inner tube outside the rim and pull it to remove the punctured inner tube from the tire.
Apply some soap to the edge of the tire that is still in the wheel and remove it by hand.
Take your new tire and inner tube, and slightly inflate the inner tube. This way, you can see which side the valve is oriented. You should install the inner tube with the valve pointing towards the rim hole.
Deflate the inner tube and place the valve inside the rim. Put the small valve nut back on.
Pay attention to the rotational direction indicated on the side of the tire and place the inner tube inside.
Apply some liquid soap to the edges of the tire and rim. Then go around with a tire lever to get the first side back into the wheel.
Take 2 zip ties and close them to form two circles.
Push a portion of the tire inside the rim and press the opposite side with two pliers. Secure the pliers in the closed position using the zip ties.
This technique, along with good tire levers, will make it easier for you to change the tire of your E-Town Leader electric scooter.
Apply some soap to the edges and place a tire lever on the left and another on the right. Tip: Hold one tire lever under your arm, it’s great if you’re alone and changing the tire of your scooter.
When your tire is properly tensioned, place a third lever between the two and finish the installation by using leverage.
Remove the pliers and press on the edges to ensure a secure fit.
Inflate the tire and put the valve cap back on.
Replace the brake disc on the rear wheel, ensuring the correct rotational direction. The direction is always indicated on the disc.
Put the repaired wheel back on the rear fork by sliding the axle into the two black rails.
Tighten the wheel and replace the plastic covers.
Finally, tighten the brake caliper by aligning it correctly with the disc, and you have successfully changed the rear wheel of your E-Town Leader electric scooter!
