How to change the front tire of an ETown Leader scooter ?

Necessary equipment to replace the front wheel of your Etown Leader

Before starting the guide, you’ll need some equipment.

Tools :

🛒 Hercules tyre levers x3
Hairdryer or heat gun
Allen key: 2.5mm
18mm wrench
Liquid soap

Replacement parts :

🛒 V3 tire

🛒 8 1/2 X 2 straight valve inner tube

🛒 Complete kit (tire + inner tube)

Front tyre and inner tube replacement for the ETown Leader

Start by gently heating the red sticker. Then, slide the tip of a cutter between the sticker and the cover, and lift the sticker gently to remove it. These red stickers are of poor quality, so be delicate if you want to reuse them.

Unscrew the 2 screws of the plastic cover using a 2.5mm Allen key.

Carefully remove the second red sticker.

Unscrew the 4 screws of the cover using a 2.5mm Allen key to remove it.

Loosen the two nuts on the left and right sides of your front wheel using an 18mm wrench, and set your wheel aside.

Gently pull on the cable of your motor to create some space to work, and remove the cap from the valve of the inner tube.

Unscrew the 6 screws of the motor flange using a Phillips screwdriver.

Lift the motor flange.

Tip: Start by heating the area around the bearing to expand the flange. Then, use two small flathead screwdrivers to create leverage all around the flange.

The motor valve is held in place with a small nut. Since it’s not possible to remove it with a socket, carefully turn it using a thin pair of pliers.

Then, push the valve inside the wheel using an Allen key.

Apply soap and press on the edges of the tire to detach it from the rim.

Lever a section of the tire using two sturdy tire levers for electric scooters. Work your way around to remove the first sidewall of the tire.

Pull the valve of the inner tube outside of the rim and pull on it to remove the punctured inner tube.

If necessary, apply some soap and remove your old tire.

Retrieve the small rubber collar from your old inner tube’s valve and place it on the new one.

Slightly inflate your new inner tube to determine its orientation. The valve of your inner tube should point towards the hole in the rim.

Deflate your inner tube and slide the valve into the rim.

Make sure to tighten the nut securely onto the valve. If you don’t do this, the valve may point downwards, and you won’t be able to inflate your tire.

Heat the motor flange to expand it and then place it back in position, screwing in the 6 screws.

Install the inner tube inside your CST V3 tire. Make sure to check the direction of rotation indicated on the side of the tire.

Apply some soap on the edges of the tire and the rim, then use a tire lever to guide the first side of the tire into the rim.

Take two zip ties and close them in the shape of two circles.

Push a section of the tire inside the rim and press the opposite side with two pliers (keep the pliers closed using the zip ties).
Note : It is thanks to this technique and the use of sturdy 30cm metal tire levers that changing the electric scooter tire becomes much easier.

Apply some soap around the tire and rim. Place one tire lever on one side and another on the opposite side. If you are alone, don’t hesitate to secure one tire lever under your arm to keep it in place. This method works well for stability.
